India and the US are working to extradite Tahaur Rana, a key figure in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Rana, a Canadian-born Pakistani citizen, was found guilty of providing logistical support to the terrorists who carried out the deadly attack. Rana was imprisoned in US courts but escaped trial in India.
Talks are ongoing between the two countries to extradite Rana to India for trial. Indian authorities have long sought Rana’s extradition to stand trial, making his return crucial to justice for the victims of the 26/11 campaign. His involvement in the plot is significant, as he is accused of facilitating the terrorists’ travel and preparing the equipment used in the attack.
The foreign talks have been held as both countries pledge to combat terrorism. Officials said they are trying to overcome legal and political hurdles to ensure Rana is brought to India to stand trial for his role in one of the world’s worst crimes in Indian history.
